Children On Their Birthdays |
SynopsisMedia, Alabama - 1947. In the midst of a stifling hot summer, a tiny figure dressed in sky-blue frills emerges from the six o'clock bus, twirling a parasol on her shoulder. Lily Jane Bobbit (Tania Raymonde), a mysterious 13-year old girl, accompanied by her mute mother, instantly charms everyone she meets, especially two 13-year-old boys, Billy Bob (Joe Pichler) and Preacher Star (Jesse Plemons). The two battle for Lily's attention and as the summer wears on, it's clear that the two are on a collision course with one another that could not only destroy their friendship, but take the tiny town with them. In the end, it is the smooth talking, crooked show promoter Lionel Quince (Tom Arnold) who, in an attempt to rob the locals of their savings, causes the boys to realize that true friendship is hard to come by, and that nothing must destroy that precious commodity.

Editors Comments
One of the finest coming of age film I have ever seen, I rate it right up there with October Sky, my all time favorite. |
