Liberty, Maine

Synopsis

Sy Barnes is unable to commit to his fiancee, Kate Goodwin, because he has not confronted his past relationship with his father, Nicholas Barnes, his only living relative.

At Kate's insistence, Sy returns to his hometown in Maine to introduce his fiancee to his estranged father, whom he has not seen in eight years. During the course of their visit, Sy learns that his father is ill and in tremendous debt and about to lose his home. As Nicholas' condition worsens, Sy is forced to take over his father's "vocational camp" for troubled boys and confront the many issues that have haunted him and have kept him and his father apart for all these years.

Sy learns that it is only in accepting and forgiving the past that one can truly embrace the future.
